Sujatha Vidyalaya

Sujatha Vidyalaya Matara which was established in 1928 in sourthern , Sri Lanka has largly contributed in creating useful citizens to the nation. Eventhough it started with only thirty six students and a staff of four teachers , at presents it stand as one of the well recognized school , both nationally and internationally.

Sujatha Vidyalaya was built in its current location in 1949. It was initiated with the intention of providing English education for Buddhist girls in Sri Lanka and now with a history of nine decades , the school has become one of the highly regarded schools in Sri Lanka.

I consider it a great pleasure to send a message to the official web site of Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara which has a legacy of 94 years.

It is my duty and responsibility to bring into notice those who have contributed to the progress of the college at the inception and throughout her journey to glory and grandeur to become one of the prominent girls ‘national schools in the island. First, I commemorate the founder Dr. C. V. Gooneratne for his noble act for the much needed revival of the Sinhala Buddhist education of the girls at the time.

I would like to state with much honour and gratitude the service of the past principals, the members of the academic, non – academic staff and past Sujathians who faced myriad of challenges and trails and tribulations in the long march of the college to reach her present prominent status.
