Proudly Celebrating It's 78th Anniversary..

The Principal – Mrs. M.H. Wanigasinghe
It is with great pleasure I send my wishes at this moment of launching the new website of the vidyalaya.
Established with the noble objective of providing Buddhist cultural education to the girls in the southern , it is explicit that Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara has now reached the helm of recognition and reputation as one of the leading and much sought after girls’ national school in the island.
Initially, I must tribute the founder Dr. V. D. Gooneratne for his worthy and timely gesture of establishing the vidyalaya way back in 1928 to revive the Buddhist culture and education in the southern. I make this occasion an opportunity to bring into my memory with respect the yeoman service rendered by the past principals and the teachers since the inception of the vidyalaya to raise it to its present acclaimed state.
It falls short of exaggeration if I mention that the present academic staff, students and the non-academic staff are the pillars of strength behind the consecutive numerous achievements of the vidyalaya in the recent past. My heart felt gratitude goes to their unfailing, unreserved and collected cooperation to the administration to achieve land mark victories both in academic, co – curricular and extra - curricular activities. I also regard with admiration both past and present Sujathians who have excelled in their unique way to make their alma- mater proud in the golden history of the vidyalaya.
Finally, I would like to extend my heart felt gratitude to the Old Girls’ Association, the School Development Society, well-wishers and parents who have immensely contributed and relentlessly shouldered many duties and responsibilities in the long march of the vidyalaya on behalf of the progress of it.
Thank You.
